Goat Grazing Intern Wanted

I am starting to volunteer my goats and sheep around the Bay Area for small land restoration projects and could use a hand with some of the projects. Anyone interested in learning about using goats and sheep as a land management tool? This would be a great volunteer internship for someone who is interested in learning about working with livestock to manage land. I can show you what I know about working with animals including basic care and vet work, reading a landscape and assessing strategies to achieve land goals and how to set up temporary fencing and housing. Send me an email if this sounds interesting to you.

Personal transportation is not necessary but may be helpful and you will be expected to lift fifty pounds. People with extreme sensitivities to poison oak may not be very happy after certain projects. You should be able to stay calm in stressful situations and maintain a positive attitude when working with the animals. I am looking for someone to help out one a week for about four hours, keep in mind when working with animals you are working on their schedule and things don’t always go according to plan. If everything goes well this could eventually lead into a paid position.

I don’t know if you’re still in need of any help, but if you are I’d love the opportunity to learn about your work with goats.
